MAWCA returns dues and registration fees from our annual conference to its members in the form of grants and scholarships that promote professional development and writing center research in our region. We strive to distribute funds widely across the membership and to prioritize members in need.
Grant and scholarship recipients must be members in good standing at the time of application.
Typically smaller grants ($200-500) but up to $1000 to support events or opportunities for members to learn and collaborate, such as symposia, invited speakers, article-reading groups, or the like. More info.
A one-time grant of $500-1000 to support the purchase of materials or equipment essential to the development of your writing center. More info.
Up to $1000 to support research by BIPOC writing center professionals or professionals with identities underrepresented in the field. More info.
Typically smaller grants ($300-500) but up to $1000 to support writing center research.
Approximately five scholarships are awarded each year based on need. Apply for funding when you submit a conference proposal.
Up to $300 to cover the cost of registration. Retreats take place at Pendle Hill Retreat Center on alternating years during the summer. Apply for funding when you register.
Up to $900 to cover the cost of registration. When you register for the Institute, indicate that you are a member of MAWCA in your request for funding.
