New(er) Writing Center Directors' (Virtual) Retreat
June 15-17, 2022 The New (or Newer) Writing Center Directors’ (Virtual) Retreat is a three-day workshop for new and newer writing center directors or graduate students in administrative roles to focus on the nuts and bolts of writing center administration while networking with other local writing center professionals. Led by MAWCA Vice President Stacey Hoffer, the virtual retreat will provide opportunities to discuss, brainstorm, collaborate, support, and connect with other early-career writing center professionals. Participants will attend a synchronous Zoom meeting from 10 a.m. - noon each day and complete asynchronous activities at their own pace. In the afternoons or evenings, participants can register for one-on-one conferences with a MAWCA mentor to discuss their draft materials or writing center work in general. By the end of the workshop, you will come away with a strategic plan for your writing center, all the materials that you need for the fall, and a support network of other directors in the region.
| Meet the leader of this year's retreat... Vice President of MAWCA Stacey Hoffer attended the retreat as a new director in 2017 and loved it so much that she's back to lead it this year. Here's what she had to say about her own experience as a participant: |
